Asthma is chronic inflammation of airways. India has much prevalence of allergy and asthma disorder. Study by Dr Nilesh sonawane  for prevalence of allergy in indian population  found to be about 40 percent. as per his study published in International journal of  adavances in medicine.(click on link for details). Also it was found that spirometry a part of lung function test was impaired in abour 40% allergic rhinitis patients.

More the duration of allergic rhinitis , more was spirometry impairment.

It is advisable to get treated for allergy at earliest.

Asthma and allergic rhinitis are considered part of  same disease.

Neglecting asthma is not advisable. A standard treatment of asthma is by inhaler therapy as  per symptoms.Its advisable that it should be monitored under care of qualified pulmonologist and not to get over the counter inhaler.

Asthma has multiple reasons for being uncontrolled, it is necessary to take proper history of patient, rather than always stepping up inhaler doses.
